Selected for its authentic texture, natural colour variation, and lasting durability, this natural stone brings warmth and character to the home’s rustic design. Used throughout the exterior posts, garage, double-sided fireplace, and bar backsplash, Providence Quarry Ledgestone^® creates a seamless connection between the indoor and outdoor spaces while complementing the home’s mountain setting.

PROIDENCE QUARRY LEDGESTONE^®

Providence Quarry Ledgestone^® by Pangaea^® Natural Stone brings timeless character to any project with its natural variation, rough-tooled texture, and European-inspired craftsmanship. Its unique ashlar shapes create a classic look that blends beautifully with both traditional and modern designs.

This project is a home in Chilliwack on Vedder Mountain Road. It’s an older farmhouse that underwent a significant addition, giving it the feel of a brand-new build. I worked as the interior designer and also selected the exterior materials. The clients were drawn to a rustic aesthetic, which made this project a bit of a departure from my typical work and a really enjoyable one at that…

…I specifically requested this product because of its exceptional quality. We wanted to avoid manufactured stone for longevity, especially given the home’s location beside a mountain. Durability was a top priority, so we incorporated real stone alongside a metal roof and other long-lasting materials. Once I showed the client the product they were sold instantly…

…The cooler tones of the exterior needed to be balanced, and the warmth of the stone helped achieve that, while its cooler undertones also tied in seamlessly with the overall exterior palette. We used the stone on all exterior posts as well as along the lower portion of the garage.

The Vedder Mountain Road project was one of those jobs that stays with you. What started as a small older home became a full transformation, with a major addition to the front, back, and upper level. On the main floor we added a living room, mudroom, and garage. Upstairs we built out a rec room with a bar area, a guest bathroom, master bedroom and ensuite, and a flex room…

…The back of the home got a covered patio with post and beam timber work, and the front entry was framed in timber as well. The wraparound porch was rebuilt throughout, and the whole exterior came together with a cohesive, intentional finish…

…The real challenge on this project was tying the new addition seamlessly into the existing structure. Older homes carry surprises, and this one had more than a few unconventional building practices built into it that made the work significantly harder than a standard build. Making it all read as one home rather than old and new sitting side by side takes precision and experience. Our crew rose to that, and the result speaks for itself…

…When it came to the stone, Chelsea Interiors led the selection in collaboration with the homeowners. The clients wanted something durable and long-lasting, not manufactured stone. Pangaea^® was the right fit. It suited the rustic feel of the home and worked perfectly with the dark color palette…

…We installed it on the post bases along the wraparound porch, on sections of the garage exterior, and carried it inside onto both faces of a double-sided fireplace and as the backsplash in the bar area. The installation was handled by Martin Reynaud of R&M Stoneworks, and his work was exceptional. Martin is a true craftsman, and the precision and care he brought to every detail showed in the finished product. That continuity from outside to inside is what pulled everything together. CSI delivered a product that held up to the vision, and we wouldn’t hesitate to spec it again.

What began as a simple outdoor kitchen evolved into a complete courtyard-inspired retreat featuring natural stone, heavy timber construction, and stunning Sandy Point Granite by Aura Natural Landscapes. Inspired by the homeowner’s vision of creating a place where generations can gather, the project blends functional outdoor living with timeless landscape design.

SANDY POINT GRANITE

Sandy Point Granite by Aura Natural Landscapes is a durable, high-density natural granite featuring warm yellow tones accented by irregular brown veining and distinctive black flecks. Family meant everything to Maria, and the goal was to create a place where everyone could gather, eat, and spend time together...

…A three-piece granite pattern was used beneath the pergola as well as throughout the dining and fire pit areas...
